Hey Nikon users- your ZR just got a little glow-up!
If your ZR suddenly feels smarter, well- it is! Nikon just released a new firmware update that quietly improves your ZR’s performance, adding refinements that everyone’s been asking for.
Here’s a breakdown of some top improvements you’ll see:
TOP 3 UPGRADES:
- Jam-Sync Timecode
Let your editing software auto-line your video and audio perfectly. Jam Sync Timecode adds support for wired timecode input via 3.5mm audio jack, allowing a multi-camera workflow. - Extended Recording
Record up to 6 hours of continuous video recording in ProRes 422 HQ, H.264 and H.264 formats at various frame rates. - RED-Type File Naming
Available for all codecs. Highlight clipping line added for waveforms in R3D NE. Continuous illumination of the power-on lamp.
What Nikon has done here is listen. Though seemingly small on paper, in real-world use, you’re going to find these firmware boosts worth the update. The update is really about smoother workflows, longer shoots, and fewer headaches in post. If you rely on your ZR for video, this is one of those updates you’ll feel more than you’ll see- and that’s kind of the point!
